About the event

Note: Registration closes September 20th

Through focus, stillness, intentionality, and conscious movement choices performers will develop their ability to tell interesting and captivating stories to an audience of any size.

In this workshop participants will learn how to effectively enter the stage with clarity and character, both with and without a mask. Through various physical theatre exercises and games, students will learn new vocabulary and tools to add to their performance toolkits. All of this with the specific aim of making quick conscious choices with intention and precision. Together, we will learn through ensemble, solo, duo, and trio work. Specific skills will include tripping, falling, the clown slap, takes, freezes, and how to move (and interact) while wearing a mask. In addition, Jeremy will teach several classic clown sketches that students will practice and perform in pairs, as well as guiding a physical exploration exercise in order to find possible clown characters.

This workshop is for beginners and professionals alike. With over 20 years of professional performance experience in various forms including Shakespeare, musical theatre, circus, burlesque, mask, and clown, Jeremy Vik is prepared to take your performance game to the next level!
