Odd Beholder

Billie Bird

A roller-coaster ride: that's the word to describe a Billie Bird concert. And she's fun! Because she has depth. It's been said that humor is a survival strategy: humor will be necessary to get through these tales of grief, sorrow and doubt, because Billie Bird isn't afraid to go where it hurts. Artist and activist of French and Spanish descent, she has a gift for creating instant warmth and connection between people, and she makes ample use of it throughout her show. Accompanied by synth and piano virtuoso Laura Livers, they present songs from her debut album "Incendies", released in march 2023 with Mouthwatering records, but not only: contemporary sound baths, groove, multi-layers, rich guitar pickings and a voice that "haunts whoever crosses it". If you're open to a deeply connected human experience, look no further: you've come to the right place. Lay down your heavy heart, my friend.

Billie Bird is also very active in supporting artists in their artistic journey (Opération Iceberg, Gustav Academy, Projet Proxima), take action since 5 years in the organisation Helvetiarockt to sensitize and raise awareness in the music industry through organizing workshops & developping communities of finta artists. As a queer feminist artist, she often speaks out loud on different inequalities and try to visibilze the finta & queer community and their rights. She also writes music for theater and dance projects and worked with directors like Emilie Charriot, 2b Company, Géraldine Chollet and Mathieu Bertholet.

Billie Bird was recently nominated at the swiss music awards for “Best act Romandie”. In 2019 she receivedthe "National Language" prize at the Swiss Live Talents Awards, awarded by an international jury of professionals, andwas nominated one of the hundred personalities who make up French-speaking Switzerland by the newspaper "Le Temps". As for Les Inrocks, they are infatuated with La Nuit, the song of her return to French: "It's the kind of song we didn't see coming, and which we might not be able to forget any time soon." After opening for Benjamin Clementine, Piers Faccini, and Shannon Wright, Billie Bird is now performing at prestigious venues in Switzerland and abroad (France, Marocco, Japan) , including the Paléo Festival, Antigel Festival, Montreux Jazz Academy, opened for her good friend Anne Pacéo at la Cigale in Paris. She is about to tour in Germany and France in november with Black Sea Dahu and Odd Beholder.

Haley Johnsen

Haley Johnsen is a Portland, Oregon-born musician with a knack for genre-bending and a hard-earned career path that is uniquely her own. Growing up listening to powerhouse singers such as Brandi Carlile, Grace Potter, and Annie Lennox, her greatest inspirations become apparent in her soaring vocals, introspective lyricism, and cross-pollinated style of indie-pop, and folk rock music. Whether her songs muse on the aches of self-doubt, the joy that can accompany nostalgia, or simply trying to stay afloat in tough times, her bona fide songwriting combined with her performance ability is bound to evoke an emotional response. “I want my music to encourage people to push through their challenges and continue to have hope and belief in themselves and their authenticity".

Majelen

Majelen is a passionate guitarist, singer and world traveller, about to embark on her next big adventure - taking her guitar and voice to the world, through the release of her debut single, EP and tour in 2018. Written and almost entirely self-produced from a laptop whilst backpacking and working on farms in the middle of South Africa, her first releases combine the cultures of the nations around the world she has grown to love, with personal stories of people from her childhood and individuals met during time travelling. Majelen has been fortunate to have the opportunity to perform alongside some of Australia’s most accomplished musicians including James Morrison, Kristin Berardi, Gus Cereijo, Elly Hoyt, Katie Noonan and Emma Dean, and is very excited to take her own projects to the world!
