Keanan Eksteen is a 22 year old South African singer/songwriter that has recently burst onto the scene with his toe tapping, hip shaking, exciting tunes making waves across the country. He is young, energetic and his brand of music blends old school rock ‘n roll with a twist of the new to keep things fresh.

“Dixie Clouds” , the first single released on the 19th of  March has already been streamed over 80 000 times on Spotify. The song is play-listed on 17 Radio stations across South Africa and it reached the number one position on the Laeveld radio chart. The music video for Dixie Clouds hit over 410 000 views within 8 months of release and it is also playlisted on KykNet, a national TV channel.

On the 22 July a 6 track EP called “FOREVER” was released and shortly thereafter Keanan completed a 13 stop, one month tour of Europe to promote the EP with shows in Germany, France and Austria.

Keanan has played shows at various venues in Cape Town, with many more lined up. He has also appeared on the Expresso show, which is a national morning TV show broadcast to millions of viewers and more recently he sang with Goldfish at Kirstenbosch to debut “Sing with me” a song that he co-wrote with them. “Sing with me” was released globally on the 10th of February.

Keanan is currently in the process of recording a full length album due for release in mid 2023.

Born and raised in the small town of Kraaifontein in South Africa, Keanan grew up with The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac and Tom Petty as a soundtrack to his youth. Longing to expand his horizons and escape the monotony of small town life he turned to music. As a boy of few words the guitar ignited a fire within and soon became a vice, and then a passion. The words that used to be trapped in his head came tumbling out as he discovered a love for writing poetry and lyrics, and more importantly the ability to express himself in a way that might resonate with others.

In his own words ‘My song writing started off slow, I found myself very interested in lyrics that were symbolic, or cryptic, the kind that forces you to find your own meaning, or forces you to look at things through a different lens. The songs I write now mostly reflect how we view ourselves, and a lot of it is self-reflection. I feel a connection with putting myself in the shoes of another to try and bring some truth that I have not yet experienced. My music is my most honest and raw form of who I am and my thoughts and feelings about love, the self, family and life itself. I never wish to drown in the dense music industry we have today, therefor I am always looking for new and exciting ways to write a song and share it with the world.”
