Love'n'Joy, Chillera & The Dharma Chain - Benefit for "Musicians Defend Ukraine"

LOVE'N'JOY (Kyiv)

Krieg im eigenen Land und trotzdem auf Tour: Auch wenn die Umstände derzeit absurder kaum sein könnten, Love'N'Joy aus Kyiv sind auf Tour durch Europa. Nicht nur, um dem Krieg zu entfliehen und ukrainische Kultur auf internationalem Weg zu verbreiten, sondern auch, um Spenden für ihre selbst organisierte Aktion "Musicians Defend Ukraine" zu sammeln, bei der Musiker:innen, die derzeit in der Ukraine für die Verteidigung aktiv sind, mit humanitären Hilfsgütern unterstützt werden. Daher findet jedes Konzert auch als Benefiz zur Unterstützung aller Musiker:innen statt, die derzeit nicht das Privileg genießen können, das Land zu verlassen oder in ihrer Heimat Hilfe leisten.

Mit Einflüssen aus den goldenen 60er und 70er Jahren, Brit Pop und trippiger Psychedelia ist Love'n'Joy's Musik eine Reise des "kollektiven Unterbewusstseins". Aber auch ein Hardrockelemente - Jimi Hendrix und Led Zeppelin gehören zu ihren Einflüssen - mit prägnanten Gitarren, die ihrem Sound eine rauere Kante verleihen, beherrschen sie. Ihre Arbeit spiegelt den Geist einer neuen, wiederauflebenden ukrainischen Rockmusik wider. Seit 2016 spielen sie zusammen, 2019 erschien ihr aktuelles Album "Bender on the Silk Road". Die Band schaut bislang auf sechs ausgedehnte Europatouren zurück. Sie gastierten auf namhaften Festivals supporteten u.a. Kikagaku Moyo, Boogarins und Swedish Death Candy. Corona verhinderte leider ihre erste UK-Gastspielreise, wo sie u.a. auf dem Great Escape Festival gebucht waren. Um so größer war die Hoffnung, jetzt, wo sich die Welt wieder zu öffnen beginnt, wieder auf Tour zu gehen. Der Ukraine Krieg stellte sie jedoch vor harte Herausforderungen, welche sie aber mit Hilfe von Sharewood Booking meistern konnten. Nun sind sie auf den Bühnen Europas unterwegs, um auf die Situation in ihrer Heimat aufmerksam zu machen und Spenden zu sammeln.

Chillera (Odessa)

Chillerа is a project founded by Anastasiia Marykutsa, Hanna Bryzhata and Polina Matskevych as an instrumental trio. Project idea: to find ways of communication between the participants by synthesizing various musical structures and directions using acoustic instruments. It arose as an attempt to combine two dimensions in one composition: the rhythm of the dub bass and the surf guitar. Inspired by the result and realizing the experience gained in the form of 2 EPs on the Muscut label, the band members come to the idea of releasing a classic dub material, where one side represents the classic version of the composition, and the other is a mix collage, the result of the work of a dub engineer. 

THE DHARMA CHAIN (Berlin)

The Dharma Chain are a 6-piece psychedelic rock & roll band from Byron Bay, Australia who have recently relocated to Berlin, Germany. Blending raw elements of 60s garage rock with the transcendent chaos of 90s shoegaze, The Dharma Chain have synthesised a sound uniquely their own. Since forming in 2020 the band have been on a singular mission to spread their reverb-drenched voice across the world, which ultimately resulted in relocating all six members to Berlin in late-2022. Since moving the band have signed with the Berlin-based label Anomic Records, and are in the process of releasing a brand new album in 2023.​

DJ Passionfruit - an artistic Alter-Ego of Andrii Yankovskyi, a cultural entrepreneur, creative producer, and civil rights advocate from Kyiv, Ukraine. He is the driving force behind one of Kyiv's most prominent cultural venue HVLV Bar feat. Hangout. As DJ Passionfruit Andrii explores the essence of new-born UA Bass genre by tempering it with broken rhythms, deep dub grooves and fatty UK sound.  

Roman Selezinka arrived from Ukraine to develop music communities in Berlin and was working as a music scout, techno  journalist, club art director, and party promoter for several years. In 2019 started a monthly radio show dedicated to leftfield electronic music on RBL Berlin. Habitat Shaking is set to shift the BPM perception through the groovy and at the same time uplifting  sound. The show also features B2Bs with emerging DJs with outstanding music selection. Since 2019 his sound travels through the radio stations, labels, and gigs to let the audience discover the power of leftfield electronic music through danceable vibes. As  a live performance, Habitat Shaking brings intense musical discovery and contemporary dance moves together, by amplifying the grooves with analog percussive instruments.
