Statement Teresa Bergman:
"Hi team,
I'm truly sorry to tell you we had to cancel Friday's show - a decision that weighs heavily on me and the great team at Waschhaus Potsdam. Thank you so much to those who bought tickets in advance; your support means a lot.
Unfortunately, we didn't sell enough tickets this time to justify the financial risk for both the venue and me. Sadly, such cancellations are becoming more common as artists and venues face rising costs and shrinking audiences. In 13 years as a self-employed musician, I have never cancelled a show for this reason.
No matter the turnout, I have always played, often taking financial and emotional blows head-on as a result. With the growing trend of difficulty in drawing audiences to concerts, I, and many other dedicated artists, simply cannot continue this way. The same goes for hardworking venues.
The Berlin Club Commission recently published a survey showing that almost half!?! of Berlin's clubs are considering closure next year. The costs of hosting great shows have increased for all of us, while our earnings have decreased. This is unsustainable - both for our mental health and financial security"
