Jessie Monk is an artist out of GunaiKurnai land in Australia. She sings folk songs inspired by the people she keeps meeting, stories she keeps hearing and thresholds she keeps walking through.

Ihr Hafen 2 Debüt spielt die derzeit in Berlin lebende Musikerin als Duo. In Kürze geht sie zurück nach Australien, um bei einer Musical-Produktion mitzuarbeiten - erste und letzte Gelegenheit vor 2026, Jessie Monk hier zu erleben!

"Geboren in Kanada und aufgewachsen in Australien fing Jessie Monk früh an, sich für die Musik und fürs Tanzen zu begeistern. In Melbourne hat sie unter anderem in David Bowies Musical „Lazarus“ mitgespielt, jetzt hat es sie mit Berlin dauerhaft in eine der Bowie-Städte gezogen. 2021 hat sie dort ihre Debüt-EP veröffentlicht.

Folk, Gypsy-Jazz und Indie mit einer Prise Dolly Parton – so beschreibt Jessie Monk ihre Musik und das passt tatsächlich sehr gut. Die Musikerin probiert sich aus mit komplexen Melodieeskapaden im Gesang, der ohnehin einiges an Stimmgewalt erahnen lässt. Dazu kommen derbe Geigenklänge und rhythmische Gitarre und Percussion. Der countryhafte Refrain in „Mistook You For A Man“ mit den mehrstimmigen Backings und der eher geradlinigen Rhythmik kommt da halb überraschend. Jessie traut sich außerdem auch an anspruchsvolle Cover wie „Kathy’s Song“ von Simon & Garfunkel, bei dem die Latte hoch hängt und man dementsprechend abliefern muss – auch das kein Problem für die Allrounderin.

Fazit: Inspiriert von den alten Helden gelingt Jessie Monk das Kunststück, dennoch einen eigenen Stilmix zu finden, den man so noch nicht gehört hat." (entnommen: Musik unterm Radar)

If you asked Majelen what her music sounds like, she’d tell you it’s like Tash Sultana meets Ed Sheeran—raw, rhythmic, and romantic. A blend of acoustic storytelling and modern production, her songs channel new love, late-night beach adventures, and the freedom of life on the road. Think heartfelt vocals, infectious grooves, and intimate stories shaped for wanderers and wild hearts.

Her upcoming single, Ride—an upbeat queer love song about one of her earliest dates with her now-wife—marks a shift into brighter, more pop rock territory. The track was written, recorded, mixed, and mastered entirely by Majelen in her converted bus while travelling Australia. Using only vocals and guitar processed through rich, creative production, Ride showcases her evolving sound: light, airy soprano vocals, detailed storytelling, and a vibe perfect for fans of G Flip, Fletcher, and Ed Sheeran.

Majelen’s roots are grounded in technical excellence. Trained at the Conservatorium of Music in jazz guitar, she’s known for her one-of-a-kind right-hand technique that combines rhythm, percussion, and harmony into a full-band acoustic experience. Her sound blends groove, emotion, and craftsmanship—music that moves both body and heart.

In March 2025, she released her debut studio album Stuck With You, recorded at Abbey Road Studios and released through her indie label Liondance Records. Entirely self-funded and independently produced, the album received widespread attention, with multiple singles charting in the iTunes Top 100 across Australia, the UK, Europe, Canada, and the US. She was nominated for Musician of the Year and Breakout Artist of the Year at the 2024 Gold Coast Music Awards, and has since collaborated with Cole Clark Guitars on her own signature ‘Majelen” Model guitar. Endorsed by Sheeran Loopers, QSC Audio, Kyser, K&K Sound and Boss/Roland, Majelen is an artist proudly carving her own lane—on her own terms.

Her touring resume spans the globe. In addition to supporting artists like Xavier Rudd and Kim Churchill, she’s performed at festivals including Blues on Broadbeach, Palm Creek Folk Festival, the Commonwealth Games Opening Ceremony, and Byron Bay Guitar Festival. In 2024 and 2025, she represented Cole Clark Guitars at NAMM in the USA.

In the second half of 2025, Majelen’s calendar is packed:

* July–August: Touring in Australia as part of the Acoustic Guitar Spectacular


* August–October: Performing at Lindisfarne Festival (UK), headlining the International Eressos Women’s Festival in Greece, and playing shows through the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands


* November–December: Returning home for a national headline tour down the East Coast of Australia with JC and The Tree and other Special Guest
