Über das Event

Portrayal of Guilt announce new album …Beginning of the End, a curious title for a band that has treated each release like a new creative start, constantly reinventing themselves since their inception less than a decade ago. …Beginning of the End embraces both the groove and avant garde, revisiting the raw, teeth-gnashing intensity of their previous work while toying with nu-metal, alternative rock, trip hop, dark ambient and other disparate influences. The latest effort feels like a band that has traversed every shadowy corner of heavy music, distilling their decade of innovation and knowledge into a singular show of force.

Portrayal of Guilt share their first preview of …Beginning of the End with lead singles “Ecstasy” and “Human Terror" which together capture the album’s dynamic, expansive direction. Both are available across streaming platforms today via Run For Cover alongside a classic, sinister video for “Ecstasy”, directed by Craig Murray, and a visualizer for “Human Terror”.

Throughout the years, the revered Austin trio have toured the world over, creating their own musical eco-system and released three seminal full-length albums, they have done it in a manner that avoided compromise, welcomed free experimentation and avoided labels outside of "menacing," “compelling” and “must hear.”

Portrayal of Guilt made an immediate impact in underground circles with their debut Let Pain Be Your Guide by mixing nihilistic hardcore, black metal, classic screamo, and imaginative textures. We Are Always Alone and CHRISTF*CKER LPs followed in 2021, the band’s breakout body blows that corroded the band’s commitment to genre, nodding at industrial music, post-metal, sludge and even post-hardcore, all while cementing the band’s tendencies toward experimentalism. Portrayal of Guilt’s fearless spirit reimagined their own sound as classical (Devil Music EP) and EBM / goth (CHRISTF*CKER II) on more recent efforts. And though the pacing of releases and the band’s evolution has remained steady, Portrayal of Guilt’s execution has kept their audiences hungry for the band’s ever-evolving sound.

…Beginning of the End was recorded and mixed by Phillip Odom between March-June 2025 with mastering handled by Will Yip. It’s Portrayal of Guilt’s fourth studio album in eight years, and third with Run For Cover.

Crouch is a three piece band consisting of Wim Coppers (Wiegedood, Oathbreaker, Rise And Fall, Living Gate  etc) on drums, Jasper Hollevoet (Ventilateur) on bass and Levy Seynaeve (Wiegedood, Oathbreaker, ex-Amenra, Living Gate etc) on guitars and vocals.

Crouch saw the day of light in 2023 through the self-released EP “Crouch”.

Since its release, the band have toured with Russian circles and played support slots for the likes of Botch, High On Fire, Cave In etc. and appeared at renowned festivals like Roadburn, Rock Herk, Desert Fest.

Ready to take the next step in their journey as a band, Crouch is proud to present its first full length record entitled “Breaking The Catatonic State”.

Where the self-titled EP drew a lot of influence from sludgy bands like Crowbar, Sumac and Neurosis. “Breaking The Catatonic State” has shifted drastically towards the more progressive side of late 90’s, early 2000’s, heavy music rooted in punk hardcore. Citing bands as Knut, Burnt By The Sun, Botch, Coalesce etc. to be the focus influence. As reflected in the album title, Crouch builds further on the sound they’ve created for themselves while at the same time breaking with the sludgy aspect of it. Literally breaking with the catatonic and repetitive nature of the 4/4 beat and introducing twists and turns at every crossroad. Not only musically, but also lyrically the new record introduces a directer approach to things. No more beating around the bush but straight to the point lyrics. This isn’t your average slow heavy album, ‘nor is it a pure bred hardcore album. It floats somewhere in between those two worlds. With its general slow and weighty feel on one side, and on the other its unexpected hooks and angles, the record has been described as the brain child of Kickback and Captain Beefheart, raised by uncle Botch.

The band has extensively introduced itself to the public with live shows all over Europe. Carrying out the same work ethic as the other projects members are involved in, Crouch is a band that believes touring and creating an outstanding live show reputation is key to growing as a band and showing the world what they’re made off.
