Ausgehend von futuristischen Flötenklängen führt ESINAM ihre Zuhörer*innen über kräftige, komplexe Rhythmen und poetischen Texte in ihre unvergleichlichen Universen des Electronic Afro Jazz' und weit darüber hinaus.... Ihre Songs mäandern in globalen sowie traditionalen Grooves und Klängen. Auf der Suche nach Balance zwischen Akustik und Elektronik, zwischen Zukunft und Vergangenheit drückt sie ihre Gefühle in ihren Kompositionen aus, denen sie durch die spontane Weiterentwicklung eine individuelle Note verleiht. Basierend auf Loops, Samples, Impressionen und Field Recordings folgt jeder Song ihres Debut-Albums "Shapes in Twilights of Infinity" dem anderen, wie ein Zyklus, der sich öffnet, entwickelt, transformiert und schließlich zum Ausgangspunkt zurückkehrt. Dies stellte die belgisch-ghanaische Multiinstrumentalistin solistisch, als auch mit Band bereits auf vielen internationalen Bühnen (Jazz Re:Freshed, Eurosonic Noorderslag, Gent Jazz Festival, Prague Music Festival, Copenhagen Jazz Festival uvm.) beeindruckend zur Show.

Esinam erschafft ein glorreiches einzigartiges Klanguniversum (...) mit kraftvollen, traditionellen Rhythmen, die sich mit zeitgenössischen melodischen Flöten- und mehrschichtigen Klängen zu einem grenzenlosen musikalischen Erlebnis verflechten. - London Jazz News

Early Years

Already at a very young age, she became fascinated by music, in particular by percussion instruments such as the tama. The piano was her first main instrument, then she opted for the flute. She creates a musical world of her own, filled with rhythms, grooves, melodies and loops.

Soundscapes

Solely carried away by sound, ESINAM succeeds in blending her soulful voice with traditional African percussion, adding here and there some electronic influences combined with sensible melodies and flute improvisations. Her compositions carry traces from numerous geographical, cultural and musical influences, which she collected from her personal history and through various travels, encounters, tours and collaborations.

On stage

After starting her solo career as a “one woman band” – sampling and looping all instruments herself to build her tracks – she invited other musicians to join her in order to have a full live band. Still performing with both her solo and band set-up, ESINAM always unveils herself by orchestrating an authentic music full of poetry, with rhythms and melodies that make her a unique voice in today’s jazz-and-beyond scene, leaving no listener untouched.
