Musa Keys - born Musa Makamu - started his music career in Grade 7 after joining the RECENT RELEASES church band as a keyboardist. The Giyani-born and Polokwane-raised DJ, singer and producer would eventually form a band called “The Muse” after receiving mentorship from Lazarus Thobejane.

Literally starting from nothing, he would be introduced to a budding genre in South Africa’s streets - Amapiano. He announced himself to the nation’s music industry alongside Caltonic SA before releasing his debut EP Widlysm and his recent debut album TAYO.

To the satisfaction of his many fans, music would be his destiny as it ties into his purpose. “I live to inspire people.” he shares. “I see the positive in everything and everyone and always believe there’s someone out there who’s openly trying to learn something from me.”

His story continues to be inspirational and being included in Forbes’ 10 of South Africa’s Leading Amapiano Artists list this year is the biggest highlight of his young career so far.
