TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT & ANYANKOFO
Total Hip Replacement & Anyankofo is a special Danish/Ghanaian super-group known for its energetic and unique live concerts. The band navigates playfully from intoxicating reggae-rhythms through soulful highlife. The project was launched full force in 2021-22 with the release of the album “Anyankofo” featuring legends such as Pat Thomas, Kwame Yeboah and Rocky Dawuni. 2022 and 2023 were explosive years for the band seeing an extensive release tour in Ghana, Greenland, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Poland and France with more than 120 shows and thousands of listeners. Both album and live-shows were critically acclaimed with good reviews in magazines and radio such as GAFFA (DK´s biggest music mag), RIDDIM(DE), SONGLINES(UK), COSMO WDR(DE) and won a Danish Grammy for “Best Live Act of The Year” in 2021. The band performed at big festivals such as Bout Du Monde (FR), Reggae Jam (DE), Ostroda Reggae Festival (PO), Tempo Latino (FR), and sold out headliners in DK.
Together with producer Kwame Yeboah and renowned Ghanaian musicians from the bands of Pat Thomas and Ebo Taylor, the fuel of highlife is brought into Total Hip Replacement´s reggae machine. “Anyankofo” embodies the band’s vision to collaborate with musicians across different backgrounds, pushing boundaries and building bridges through music and friendship. The music is merging reggae, highlife, afrobeat, dub and soul in a bold mix. The live show features a 9-piece energetic group on stage, a tight horn section and infectious vibes.
In the spring of 2024 the band regrouped in Ghana and recorded new songs, digging deeper into the collaboration and invited new and exciting features into the project. These songs will be unleashed in 2025, when the group embarks on a new tour in Europe.
