Am 13. Juli feiern wir das 30 jährige Bestehen des YAAM Clubs und haben uns dafür unsere langjährigen Freunde, die Veteranen, von Silly Walks Disco aus Hamburg und aus der neuen Generation die Power Ladies vom Pretty Gang Collective aus Berlin eingeladen. Silly Walks feiern an diesem Tag außerdem mit uns ihr inzwischen 33 jähriges Bestehen als Sound.

Gemeinsam führen die beiden Sounds durch drei Jahrzehnte Reggae und Dancehall Historie. Einer der jungen Hype Sounds trifft hierbei auf einen legendären Sound, der bis heute aktiv ist und wir dürfen gespannt sein, wie die beiden den Abend gemeinsam gestalten. Sicher ist, dass hier niemand still stehen wird und sowohl Jung als auch alt auf seine Kosten kommen wird. Am Mic dürfen wir sicher den einen oder anderen Überraschungsgast erwarten!

SILLY WALKS DISCOTHEQUE

SILLY WALKS DISCOTHEQUE zählen zu den dienstältesten und bekanntesten Soundsystemen und gehören zu den Pionieren der europäischen Reggaeszene.

Als Soundsystem gehören Silly Walks bis heute zu den meistgebuchten und beliebtesten Formationen Europas und touren auf dem ganzen Kontinent sowie in Afrika und Amerika. Des Weiteren sind sie regelmäßig zu Gast auf den größten Reggae-Festivals der Welt, etwa dem Summerjam, der Reggae Jam, dem Chiemsee Summer, dem Rototom Festival oder dem Uppsala Festival.

Ihr musikalisches Spektrum umfasst neben allen Reggae- und Dancehallsparten aus fünf Jahrzehnten auch Genreübergreifendes, vor allem Afrobeats, aber auch lateinamerikanische Clubsounds oder die Global Bass genannten Hybride aus den Metropolen der Welt.Neben der Aktivität als Soundsystem ist Silly Walks Discotheque auch als Produzententeam aktiv.

Bereits Anfang des Milleniums veröffentlichten sie einige stilprägende Alben, z.B. “Songs of Melody” 2002 (Four Music) oder “Silly Walks Movement meets Patrice”, 2003 (Four Music). Es folgten Veröffentlichungen mit Künstlern wie Jan Delay, Patrice, Max Herre, Gentleman, Luciano, Capleton, Louie Culture u.v.m. Zuletzt erschien 2016 das Produzentenalbum „Smile Jamaica“ mit dem gleichnamigen No1 Hit auf Jamaika von Chronixx und mit der Busy Signal / RC Combo „Dreams of Brighter Days“, die weltweit zu den meistgespielten Reggaesongs der letzten Jahre gehört.

PRETTY GANG COLLECTIVE

Founded in 2021 Pretty Gang quickly gained popularity with their shows combining music and dance. Since then they have been guests at multiple formats, festivals and parties around Germany and Europe. Get ready for a fun set and some real Caribbean vibes!

NAY HONEY is a DJ, dancer and music journalist based in Berlin. Behind the decks, she’s always repping for Caribbean culture, so expect a fun set of Dancehall and Soca vibes- and likely some dancing. In 2021, she co-founded the DJ collective Pretty Gang in order to start tackling the lack of visibility of FLINTA and BIPoC in the Caribbean music scene in Germany. Since then Nay brought the vibes to different parties and festivals around Europe and in 2023 made her Boiler Room debut.

Aaliyah Thanisha Philipp is a 23-year-old artist who was raised in Berlin. Her parents sent her to dance classes early on. At the age of 5 she found joy in ballet and flamenco. As the nearly always youngest student in classes, Aaliyah showed that she had found her passion in dance. Numerous dance classes, championships, being a member of hip hop / street dance crews and training internationally like L.A., shaped the young talent.
Later, Aaliyah became very involved in the berlin dancehall scene and was mentored by the well-known german dancehall dancer Swaggi Maggi. Dancehall awakened a different artistic side from the young talent. She found healing and strength in the style that also represents her cultural background. She became more active in teaching, performing and choreographing outside of the commercial dance industry. She wants to represent the values and artistry of subcultural dances on larger platforms in the art scene. Working in both the commercial and the artistic field, Aaliyah finds her balance as a dancer and artist.
