About the event

After a journey through the desert, aJan is finally ready to release their experimental mixtape "Opposite Side". Focused on their mission to rebrand the notoriously over generalized term "world music", aJan has been working relentlessly in the past year to collaborate with leading artist and labels to form this exceptional mixtape. In addition to their original material, you can find UK's based rapper Afrikan Boy’s story about his DNA test in “Ancestry”, as well as remix versions of “Mabruk” and “Sukkar” by the late Ali Hassan Kuban, the Godfather of Nubian Funk.

For their fans in Berlin, aJan have invited Abass Ndiaye the Berlin-based Senegalese singer songwriter, known for his powerful vocal style and engaging mix of folk, funk, reggae, afrobeat and traditional Senegalese music. Abass sings in his mother tongue of Wolof, French and English while instrumentally, in addition to the guitar, he plays the old traditional west African instruments Kora and Camels Ngoni. He will perform with his trio including the superb saxophonist Daniel Zabon and accomplished percussionist Phillip Marcel
