A hundred years ago, the 1926 General Strike brought Britain to a standstill. The BBC used radio to provide reliable communication and aired Shaw’s Pygmalion along with news and music. The play follows Professor Higgins as he transforms flower girl Eliza through speech training, while she seeks her place in society and asserts her independence.
